July Chapter Lunch Program with Mike Hill, UNC Charlotte's Director of Athletics
When: 7/30/2025
Mike Hill will touch on athletic facilities, leadership, and teambuilding. UNC Charlotte has over 30,000 students enrolled right here in our backyard. He became the seventh director of athletics in Charlotte 49ers' history, Feb. 28, 2018 and has brought a Gold Standard of excellence to the program.
Professionally, Hill has hired eight new head coaches, a Deputy A.D. for External Affairs and an Executive A.D. He has also introduced a bold new look after an athletics brand assessment and unveiled EverGreen, the program's athletics facilities master vision. Charlotte added its 19th varsity sport: women's lacrosse. In addition, the 49ers football program advanced to the program's first bowl game and during each of the five fiscal years, the 49ers Athletic Foundation increased contributions to its annual fund. Throughout campus and the community, his belief in the 49ers has energized Niner Nation.
In his first six years, the 49ers have witnessed remarkable success. In 2023-24, Hill guided the 49ers through their first season in the American Athletic Conference to record success with a league-high six conference championships across five sport programs. Buoyed by that achievement, Charlotte earned its highest-ever mark in the Director's Cup rankings at No. 94. Each year under Hill's leadership, fundraising has tracked to all-time highs, surpassing the $3 million mark for the first time in 2023-24. The 49ers also hosted the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball First and Second Rounds at the Spectrum Center, bringing March Madness back to the Queen City for the first time since 2018.
